Profiles / Rabbis & Rebbetzans / Rabbi Dr. Scott Saulson

The most relevant matter in my bio at the moment is that serving as an interim rabbi these past eleven years has been the most rewarding experience in my rabbinic career since my ordination from Hebrew Union College in 1976.  Before admission to HUC, my intended career was the diplomatic service, thus degrees in political science from the University of Michigan (1968) and international relations from the University of Miami (1971) with an interim stint in the US Peace Corps (Micronesia).

Whether I’ve been diplomatic or not is for others to judge.  At least I have been privileged to study in Israel and to work internationally as a student rabbi in Guatemala and as a solo rabbi and regional director of our movement in South Africa, where I attained a doctorate in Semitics and where I met and married my wife, Dr. Diane Wulfsohn (psychodynamic psychotherapist).

Diane and I have two daughters (Raelle and Aliya) and one granddaughter (Charlotte), with another in utero.

I enjoy working as a certified elder care mediator, horseback riding, bicycling, imbibing the fine arts, and maintaining a physical fitness routine.
